22 year old inherits £650 million porn empire

Posted on 06:25 by Unknown
Scraping together a little extra income to support one's party lifestyle can be a struggle for most hard-up students.

But when you are set to inherit the best part of £650million pounds, the drinks are bound to taste a little sweeter.

The 22-year-old granddaughter of porn supremo Paul Raymond, who passed away three weeks ago at 82, has wasted no time hitting London's nightclubs.

And already her casual student attire of biker jacket and faded jeans favored around campus have been replaced by a look more befitting of the woman dubbed 'Queen of Soho'.

Fawn is currently studying for a masters degree in social anthropology at Edinburgh University. However, unlike her fellow graduates, fretting over her first career move might not be such a worry for the heiress. She has already been made a director of several of her late grandfather's companies.

She is also being tipped to take over Mr Raymond's vast property portfolio, which includes vast swathes of London's sex capital, Soho.

Mariah Carey hangs up on Radio 1 / BBC - AUDIO

Posted on 05:59 by Unknown
Funny stuff..

Miss Carey talking on Radio 1 yesterday doing her best British accent. Get's a bit miffed when the host DJ Reggie Yates says she's sold over 80 million records... She hastily says back "Is that the right quote? I don't know, I have to ask someone, I don't know if that's accurate"
and the phone goes dead..

Reggie takes it all in his stride and says, "I think she took that as an insult, that is how the conversation ended with me and Mariah... She took 80 million albums as an insult.. She is mad cool."

FYI
To date, Mariah has sold 165 million records worldwide, she is the second bestselling female artist of all time behind Celine Dion. LOL.

Listen to the interview below.

Fact of the Day: More Muslims than Catholics

Posted on 05:24 by Unknown
Muslims more numerous than Catholics

Islam has surpassed Roman Catholicism as the world's largest religion, the Vatican newspaper said yesterday.

"For the first time in history, we are no longer at the top: Muslims have overtaken us," Monsignor Vittorio Formenti said in an interview with the Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano. Formenti compiles the Vatican's yearbook.

He said that Catholics accounted for 17.4 percent of the world population — a stable percentage — while Muslims were at 19.2 percent.

Funny stuff...

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - A judge known for creative sentencing has ordered three Spanish-speaking men to learn English or go to jail.

The men, who faced prison for criminal conspiracy to commit robbery, can remain on parole if they learn to read and write English, earn their GEDs and get full-time jobs, Luzerne County Judge Peter Paul Olszewski Jr. said.

The men, Luis Reyes, Ricardo Dominguez and Rafael Guzman-Mateo, plus a fourth defendant, Kelvin Reyes-Rosario, all needed translators when they pleaded guilty Tuesday.

Breaking News: T.I. Pleads Guilty to Weapons Charges

Posted on 13:45 by Unknown
In more "jail news".

T.I. pleaded guilty today to federal weapons possession charges, and will receive a sentence that includes prison time after he completes a period of community service.

In the year that he is awaiting sentencing, T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, must complete at least 1,000 hours of a total 1,500 hours of community service, talking to youth groups about the pitfalls of guns, gangs and drugs.

He will be sentenced to serve about 12 months in prison after completing the community service, officials said. His prison time could be increased or reduced, depending on his fulfillment of the terms of the deal and good behavior, they said.

He pleaded guilty to possession of unregistered machine guns and silencers, unlawful possession of machine guns and possession of firearms by a convicted felon.

U.S. Attorney David Nahmias said Harris will remain "under strict bond conditions" during the next year.

He said Harris' sentencing was deferred "to allow him to perform a unique and extensive program — at least 1,000 hours — of community service. That service will focus on using his high public visibility and his talents to tell at-risk young people about the mistakes he has made and to educate them about the dangers of violence, guns, gangs and drugs."

Nahmias said under the agreement, Harris will have to serve a year in prison and three years of supervised home detention, perform a total of 1,500 hours of community service and pay a $100,000 fine.

Failure to fulfill his obligations will net Harris a "much longer prison sentence," Nahmias said.

Britney's vocal recording 'secret'

Posted on 21:20 by Unknown
Was I actually surprised by this?? I've always told everybody I've met with a "look" they could be the next big singing superstar, hell you don't need to know how to sing, just have stage presence and if you sing live, MIME.. Seriously..

Anyhoo check this out:

Singer/spoken-word artist Henry Rollins had an interesting take on Britney Spears during a recent interview with Sun Media.

Rollins was talking about how it always is a good idea to befriend the sound engineers at any music studio, because they're the ones with the best stories.

"They have the black chick come in and sing, and Britney sings over it, and they mix them together," said Rollins, who has his own talk show on IFC.

"(Britney) gets her phrasing basically from this older R&B woman. I found that out talking to an engineer.

"Britney apparently isn't actually the worst singer, she just has no feel. So they bring in this older black woman who sings the song, then Britney sings to it, and they kind of make a mix of the two voices, and that's what you hear on the records."

Kanye & Alexis got hitched??

Posted on 10:36 by Unknown
MTV is reporting that Kanye West and Alexis Phifer tied the knot in secret in Europe.

----

Rumours suggest that rapper/producer Kanye has fulfilled his mother’s final wishes by marrying his longterm girlfriend Alexis Phifer at a secret ceremony in Europe.

The rap star proposed to Phifer in 2006 while they were on a romantic holiday in Italy and new reports say that the two have now tied the knot while on vacation in Europe just last month.

The rumours could well be true as the Through The Wire singer was keen to get married away from the spotlight of the media as he said in GQ magazine last year, “I’m just going to go and get married, I’m not going to make a big deal out of it.”

Chris Rock On Witness List In Wiretap Trial

Posted on 00:07 by Unknown
Chris Rock's name appeared on a list of potential witnesses released Wednesday in the federal wiretapping trial of Hollywood private investigator Anthony Pellicano and four co-defendants.

Photobucket

Opening statements were set to begin last week, with Pellicano acting as his own lawyer defending charges that he ran a criminal enterprise that wiretapped phones and bribed police and telephone workers. Prosecutors said he obtained confidential information that could be used to gain advantage in divorce, business and other cases.

According to court documents, reps for Chris Rock retained Pellicano in a paternity battle waged by then 33-year-old former model Monika Zsibrita. She claimed in April 2006 that Pellicano hired a former LAPD sergeant to snoop through her confidential records after she made a paternity claim against the comedian.

Sylvester Stallone and Garry Shandling, also among the potential witnesses announced Wednesday, were alleged victims of Pellicano's alleged wiretapping. Stallone told The Associated Press last month that he would testify if needed.

The witness list compiled by prosecutors included 127 people, but it was not clear how many would actually testify. Also named were Brad Grey, chairman and chief executive officer of Paramount Pictures; Ron Meyer, president and chief executive officer of Universal Studios; and former Walt Disney Co. president and powerful talent agent Michael Ovitz.

Once Upon A Time...

A little read that was forwarded to me today, hilarious..

Thank you Lila..

--
Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl "Will you marry me?" The girl said"NO!" and the girl lived happily ever-after and went shopping, dancing, traveling, drank martinis, always had a clean house, never had to cook, did whatever the hell she wanted, never argued, didn't get fat, traveled more, had many lovers, didn't save money, and had all the hot water to herself.

She went to the theater, never watched sports, never wore lacy lingerie that went up her ass, had high self esteem, never cried or yelled, felt and looked fabulous in sweat pants and was pleasant all the time.

The End!

America's Next Top Model at Fashion Week and Elsewhere

Posted on 10:33 by Unknown
Apparently the fashion high-ups don't think that America 's Next Top Model Cycle 9 winner Saleisha Stowers was "seasoned" enough to be part of New York 's Fashion Week, thus the model's absence in the biggest fashion event of the year.

However, this hasn't stopped the 22-year-old from representing at Fashion Week, as she joined three other models from recent seasons of America 's Next Top Model on the runways. One of them, in fact, is one of Saleisha's Cycle 9 competitors. Apparently Cycle 9 bad girl Bianca Golden was good enough to grace the runway along with Cycle 8 winner Jaslene Gonzalez and Danielle "Dani" Evans, who won in Cycle 6.

Birthplace of Hip Hop Music Preserved As A Landmark

Posted on 08:23 by Unknown
Big yaaaaaaaay to all those that helped save the birthplace of Hip Hop.

Remember my previous feature asking for help HERE

Well it seems everybody's hard work to save the place has paid off.

The AP is reporting that the project apartment building 1520 Segwick Avenue, in the Bronx where it is said DJ Kool Herc pioneered this thing we call Hip Hop is now eligible to be listed on national and state registers of historic sites.

The building’s owner had planned to sell the structure to developer, Mark Karasick’s who planned to then eradicate the affordable housing units and instead renovate and sell the units as condos. However due to the Department of Housing Preservation and Development’s decision these plans have been put on hold.

The new owner hoped to abandon the Mitchell-Lama program, under which the previous owner received incentives such as low-rate mortgages and tax breaks in exchange for charging tenants low to moderate rents. Sen. Charles Schumer said the city rejected the proposed sale to a developer because current rents could not be sustained if the sale was executed.

“This building, which housed hip-hop’s founding father … is a New York treasure that must be preserved as a bastion of affordable housing,” Schumer said.

Flashback: UB40 - Red Red Wine (1983) - VIDEO

Posted on 07:39 by Unknown
Sheesh, has it been THAT long? 19 friggin 83?? I feel so old. Check out Ali Campbell looking all young, ha ha.

Seriously, I love UB40, this is my Dad's fav group, must have had every album in the house whilst growing up.

This song came on the radio the other day and I was telling Andrew how the group got together which makes them even more awesome..

For those that don't know..

The pop-reggae band is named after a British unemployment benefit form, they got together in the dole office, or as you'd say in the US, the welfare line in 1978. It's multiracial lineup reflected the working class community it's members came from. How great is that? You form a band in the welfare office, call yourselves the name of the form you have to take in every other week to show you're searching for work, and then become a world famous music group, love it..

For some reason my mind is wondering to a clip of the film "A Full Monty" LOL.

Anyhoo enjoy..

Not that she's suggesting you eat dog food, I know I wouldn't my dog's food, however healthy it was, but she's just saying..

It's Monday...

Posted on 08:11 by Unknown
What a weekend..

I've been without my landline and dsl for waaaaaaay too long (damn vonage) and having my cell not work in the apartment is just the icing on the cake.

I have serious panic attacks when I'm without the internet, how else do you explain me trawling the internet cafe's at 11pm just because I thought of something that had to be done online NOW!

Anyway, I'm back, Happy Monday folks..
