Target Campaign Goes 'Model-Less'

Posted on 11:17 by Unknown
In Target's never-ending quest to be hipper than the competition, the retailer plans to showcase its fall and winter designer apparel in a spooky sort of fashion show: Clothes and accessories will dance and prance their way down the runway sans models -- and sans apparel.

Instead of real models or clothing, the retailer will stage the fashion show using holograms -- two-dimensional moving images that give the illusion of having three dimensions. The holograms will be projected in a section of Grand Central Terminal in New York City on Nov. 6 and 7, repeated every 10 minutes from noon ...

Snapshot of the Day: American Gangster

Posted on 10:29 by Unknown
Denzel, Pauletta and Mel Gibson @ Special Screening for American Gangster last night.

-----
American Gangster, directed by Ridley Scott, , starring Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe

A drug lord smuggles heroin into Harlem during the 1970s by hiding the stash inside the coffins of American soldiers returning from Vietnam. Formerly titled "Tru", American Gangster is a biopic of Harlem heroin kingpin Frank Lucas.

Lucas grew up in rural, segregated North Carolina where he watched as his cousin was shot by the Klan for looking at a white girl.

In the early 1970s he became the biggest heroin dealer in Harlem with a smuggling scheme that imported heroin out of Southeast Asia in the caskets of dead Vietnam soldiers.

He soon made upwards of one million dollars a day in drug sales. American Gangster centers on narcotics lawman Richie Roberts' struggle to bring down Lucas, whose flamboyant style earned him the street name "Superfly", and catching the crooked cops and drug dealers who profited from Lucas's scheme.

Oompa Loompa....

Posted on 20:40 by Unknown

Not sure if you saw or heard about Jeff Beacher’s party @ Tao (Venetian) in Vegas over the weekend. He had a bunch of “little men” dressed as Oompa Loompas entertain the Sin City crowd, actually kind of scary when you think about it, all that orange and green, aaaggghhh.

Anyhoo, being the nice person I am I’ve posted up a vid of all the Oompa Loompa songs from Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory that somebody thoughtfully put together on YouTube (yes they really did)

Didn’t realize just how spooky these little mites were..

Aqua to reunite

Posted on 20:04 by Unknown

Why was I singing "Barbie Girl" a few days ago and enquiring what ever happened to them??? I jest you not and I dare not ask myself that question...

Anyhoo, guess what? After six years the Danish band are reuniting, yes you heard right, reuniting, aren't you excited??

Their mega hit Barbie Girl was number one in the UK charts for a zillion weeks, not that I'd ever admit it again, but I knew all the words to the song...

LOL
Look out for the European tour next year.

Hate Crime: Tupac Statue defaced

Posted on 19:58 by Unknown
WHAT???? Seriously what's going on with the hate crimes???

The Tupac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts in Georgia has been vandalized and a noose found tied around the neck of a statue of the slain rap idol. It is being investigated as a hate crime.

Early Saturday morning, vandals defaced the building and left a noose around the neck of the bronze statue of Shakur located in the center's peace garden.

Later in the weekend, the statue was plastered with handbills covered in rants including references to Sept. 11, 2001, and Hurricane Katrina, as well as vague threats against various record companies and rappers, the foundation said.

Tupac’s mother Afeni spoke to AllHipHop.com about the incident, “"We thank everyone for their prayers and support. Although our hearts are temporarily in pain, our spirits have already forgiven the perpetrators.

"Hate comes in all colors and genders therefore we will use this act of hate and ignorance to bring our community together and to pray for the healing of those who harbor such feelings."

Michael Jackson teams up with Kanye West

Posted on 22:19 by Unknown
Ok, so many rumors of this person and that person working on his album, shamone Michael, make it happen, am I seriously the only person waiting for his comeback???

-----

Kanye West is working on material for Michael Jackson's first studio album since 2001, according to reports.

The rap superstar said: "I'm working on stuff for Michael Jackson. If I like a person's outlet or what a person brings to the table, then I'll speak to them."

Kanye said: "I've been in the lab already, you're already producing for other people and you've still got to promote yourself."

According to The Sun, Jackson sent a message to his fan club yesterday teasing them about an imminent album announcement.

It will be his first all-new effort since 'Invincible' six years ago.

Jackson told fans: "I've been really busy lately. Soon I will be sharing exciting and surprising news with you. Your continued love and support means so much to me. I really love and appreciate you all from the bottom of my heart."

The album is expected to be released early next year.

Queen Latifah's 'Trav'lin Light' Tour to Be Sponsored by Jenny Craig

Posted on 12:12 by Unknown
Queen Latifah to deliver healthy lifestyle message

Jenny Craig Inc. today announced yesterday that it is a co-sponsor of Queen Latifah's 2007 Trav'lin Light tour. Queen Latifah and Jenny Craig will use the sponsorship to increase awareness about the health risks associated with obesity (e.g., diabetes) and to promote Jenny Craig's "Healthy Curves are Beautiful Curves(TM)" campaign. Queen Latifah is not currently participating in the Jenny Craig Weight Loss Program, but she believes it is one of a range of ways people can reduce their weight and thereby enhance their health.

Jenny Craig's CEO, Patti Larchet said "Queen Latifah is a tremendous performer with broad appeal that spans genders and races. She's also a powerful role model for women's self-reliance and self-esteem. We are proud to help bring her talent to America."

Queen Latifah personally understands the severity of obesity-related illnesses -- having lost her great-grandmother to diabetes. Diabetes is named by the World Health Organization as "the global health hazard of the 21st Century" and is often a direct result of weight gain. She said "Jenny Craig's sponsorship of my tour will allow me to begin a dialogue with my fans about healthful living. My hope is to educate people on the simple nutritional steps they can take to have a positive impact on the length and quality of their lives.

"Do you know," Queen Latifah added, "that by losing just 5%-7% of their body weight, an overweight person can lower their risk of developing Type II diabetes by 58%?"

According to the American Diabetes Association, "nearly nine out of ten people with newly diagnosed Type II diabetes are overweight and losing that weight could better manage their diabetes."

The Trav'lin Light tour will take place between September 29 and November 20th. Queen Latifah will travel across the United States, making dozens of stops at intimate venues. She will perform songs off her newest album "Trav'lin Light" along with tracks from the Great American Songbook.

"Passionate" kiss lands art lover in French court

Posted on 12:11 by Unknown
Spotted on Yahoo News, funny stuff…

-----

MARSEILLE, France (Reuters) - A self-professed art lover stood trial on Tuesday accused of kissing a $2-million (986,000 pound) painting while wearing red lipstick and damaging the canvas.

The deputy prosecutor in the southern French city of Avignon accused the defendant, Sam Rindy, of "savagery" for having left a lipstick smear on the work by U.S. artist Cy Twombly, and demanded the court fine her 4,500 euros (3,117 pounds).

The picture's owner, Yvon Lambert, wants $2 million in damages and a further 33,400 euros that he says is needed to pay for the restoration work.

Rindy, an artist of Cambodian origin, has said she was "overcome with passion" when she saw the painting hanging on a gallery wall in July 2007.

"This woman is profoundly upset. She was overcome by an emotion that she could not tame," her lawyers, Patrick Gontard Jean-Michel Ambrosino, told the court, describing the kiss as an "act of love".

Lambert's lawyer rejected this line of defence, saying: "In love, there need to be two consenting people."

Rindy, who is in her 30s, told reporters earlier this year that she thought her lipstick had improved the white, untitled painting.

The court will deliver its verdict on November 16.

VH1: Hip Hop Honors, I Love New York 2

Ok, HAD TO HAD TO post something after last nights shows..

VHI Hip Hop Honors:

Wonderful show, but who in the hell booked T-Pain to sing a Keith Sweat classic in tribute New Jack Swing maestro Teddy Riley, WTF??? And with no studio robot voice backup?? I was totally baffled, seriously, that was my jam (still is) but T-PAIN?? I sat through the whole performance with my mouth open in disbelief...

I Love New York 2:

HILARIOUS.. Whoever filmed/edited the soundbites with Midget Mac should be shot.. Ok we all know he's a "little person" but no need to have his interviews with only the top of his head in view at the bottom of the TV screen, like the person filming was a 3 year old, wrong wrong wrong..

Track star Marion Jones admits steroid use

Posted on 16:01 by Unknown

Sad, sad, sad.

----

US sprint star Marion Jones finally stopped running from the truth on Friday, admitting she took banned steroids prior to her triumphant 2000 Olympic campaign.

The belated confession, after years of vehement doping denials, could see her stripped of the five medals she won in Sydney, three of them gold.

And the guilty plea she entered in a US court - to lying to a federal agent about both her drug use and an unrelated fraud case - could land her behind bars.

"I want you to know I have been dishonest, and you have the right to be angry with me," a tearful Jones said after her court appearance.

"Because of my actions, I am retiring from the sport of track and field, a sport which I deeply loved."

Jones, struggling for composure as her mother stood behind her, asked her fans for forgiveness.

"It is with a great amount of shame that I stand before you to tell you that I have betrayed ... your trust," she said. "I want to ask for your forgiveness for my actions."

Bank Sues Michael Vick For Unpaid Loans

Vick Bought Cars Through Bank For Car Rental Business

An Indiana bank has sued embattled Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick for not repaying loans involving a car rental business.

South Bend-based 1st Source Bank claimed in a federal lawsuit that it had suffered damages of at least $2 million as Vick and Divine Seven of Atlanta refused to pay for the vehicles.

Documents filed in U.S. District Court in South Bend on Wednesday said Vick signed loan agreements as the chief financial officer of Divine Seven, which bought at least 130 vehicles through 1st Source Bank loans.

A phone call Friday to a number listed on loan documents for Divine Seven was answered by a clerk at a Payless Car Rental office in Atlanta. The Associated Press left a message there for Art Washington, who signed some of the loan documents as Divine Seven's chief executive officer.

Holyfield Takes on Foreman Grill

Posted on 11:17 by Unknown
Evander Holyfield once defeated George Foreman in a battle for the world heavyweight boxing title. Now he is seeking to oust his former foe from another arena: the grilling world.

Holyfield, of Atlanta, is preparing to unveil the "Evander Holyfield Real Deal Grill," a direct competitor to Foreman's famous "Lean Mean Fat Reducing Grilling Machine," which has reportedly earned $100 million in sales since 1995.

"I've got a George Foreman grill. It's a good grill," Holyfield, 44, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "But don't you think the latest grill is supposed to be the best grill?"

Manufacturer CirTran Corp., based in Utah, approached Holyfield about promoting the $99 grill after he appeared on the TV show "Dancing With the Stars" in 2005. Holyfield dons an apron in a 30-minute commercial that began airing last week describing his product's culinary and health benefits.

But Holyfield isn't done with boxing. He's jumping back into the ring Oct. 13 to fight Sultan Ibragimov at Moscow's Khodynka Ice Palace arena, part of his quest to retire as the oldest heavyweight champion.
