After a two-year legal process the Paris Tribunal de Commerce found eBay guilty of gross misconduct in failing to prevent the sale of fake products.
eBay announced that it will appeal the decision. It said it has always removed listings if they were counterfeit and blames Louis Vuitton for its problems saying that it continues to use an outdated business model.
Rapper Nas has broken his tradition of sidestepping brand partnerships and inked a one-year partnership with athletic apparel company Fila.Fila will offer reciprocal financial support for Nas' print and TV ad campaign as well as his upcoming tour in support of his untitled album, due July 15 via Def Jam. In return, the MC will wear Fila products and co-create an apparel line that draws from fashions of the late '80s.
"My best friend Will and I loved Fila," Nas tells Billboard.biz. "It represented prestige and everything that was cool to us. When Will passed, we buried him in a black Fila sweat suit, so doing a deal with them has a lot of significance for me."
According to Fila president John Epstein, it was a natural match. "One of my executives spotted Nas shopping in our Manhattan store and struck up a conversation with him," Epstein says. "Nas isn't interested in selling out. He's interested in being true, and that fits with our brand."
Nostalgia aside, some may view Epstein as brave to co-brand his company with an MC who's pledged to unpack America's racial struggles.
"I had some trepidation, and then I started talking to 16- to 20-year-old kids in focus groups," Epstein says. "They looked at me like I was crazy for not understanding his message of positive change. Nas is relevant to his followers and I don't have to understand it as long as they do."

VICTORIA Beckham has revealed SHE was the reason the Spice Girls' suddenly split— because she plans to quit the music business for good.Posh has decided to become a full-time fashion designer and says she will NEVER sing with pals Mel B, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Mel C again. Talking exclusively to the News of the World, Posh admitted that she only agreed to a Spice reunion for sons Brooklyn, eight, Romeo, five, and two-year-old Cruz.
"I was very nervous about going back into the Spice Girls because I didn't want to send out a confused message," she admitted.
"The reason I decided to do the tour was to show my kids that mummy was a pop star once.
"I've been thinking about this for a long time. I'm not in the music industry any more. I'm in the fashion industry.
"I'm putting together a team of people now so it will be my main project when I finish this tour in a month.
"It's the last opportunity there will be to see the Spice Girls together."
Isaac Mizrahi defected from Target to take up duties as the new creative director for the struggling Liz Claiborne label.Mizrahi enjoyed an outstanding 5 years with the discount retailer and his collection sold about $300 million worth of merchandise a year. Target desperately wanted to renew his contract but could not match the Claiborne offer.
In this role, Mizrahi will oversee the design and marketing functions for women's apparel, accessories, and licensing. His first collection for Liz Claiborne will arrive in stores in Spring 2009, but unlike his line for Target, Mizrahi's name will not be attached to the Liz Claiborne label.
