Forbes released its list of “Music’s Hottest New Stars” today, many of them Hip Hop artists.For many of the artists it was the internet, new media and social networking sites like Myspace and YouTube that showcased them to the public.
As well as the Neilsen SoundScan, Forbes’s list was compiled by looking at top searches and downloads on peer-to-peer networks (measured by BigChampagne), press mentions ( measured by Factiva) and lastly ringtone sales (measured by Nielsen’s new RingScan).
